:every rim manufacturer claims their materials are "aircraft grade aluminum", but never know what that means. It is the type of impurities, amount of impurities, location (on grain boundaries if you are in the material science world), etc. That's purely a marketing gimmick. If something's made of aluminum there's a good chance they're going to call it "aircraft grade", since aircraft are built of aluminum and it sounds high tech. That term means nothing at all, since different grades of aluminum are used when making a plane. If they said "soda can grade aluminum" that would sound really cheap even though the alloy they use may be the same. They use that term because the uninformed public thinks it sounds impressive.
